Stolen property worth thousands recovered in Limpopo police operations

The targeted operations were conducted in the Motetema and Hoedspruit policing precincts

LIMPOPO – The fight against trio crime in the province was earlier today elevated to new heights with the apprehension of five suspects and the recovery of stolen properties worth thousands of Rands into two separate intelligence driven operations, said Police spokesperson, Constable Maphure Manamela.
“In Motetema two men, aged 30 and 45, were apprehended and a  laptop, plasma Tv and a DVD recorder were seized. Preliminary investigations revealed that the properties were stolen during house robberies committed around Motetema.  The duo have since been positively linked to other cases of house robbery in the area,” she explained.

The suspects will appear before Motetema Magistrate’s Court on Monday 20 October on charges of house robbery and possession of suspected stolen properties.

Meanwhile in Hoedspruit, three suspects aged between 32 and 38,  were arrested in connection with a robbery which took place on 16 October at a local clothing store.

“During the robbery four suspects wearing balaclavas entered the store and held two of the employees at gunpoint, tied them up and demanded the keys to the safe… A fifth suspect waited outside in a getaway vehicle.

The suspects got dressed in the staff uniforms and informed the store customers they were packing stock. During the incident they robbed the store of R 9 400, 72 cellphones and clothing. The value of the stolen goods is estimated to be R80 000,” she said.

Three of the five suspects were tracked to Namakgale where they were arrested by the station Detectives. During the arrest stolen property and a white VW Jetta were confiscated.

The police are still on the hunt for the remaining two suspects and appeal to anyone with information to contact Detective Constable Happy Mahlangu at 082 836 6696, the police emergency number 0860010111, Crime Sms Line 32211 or the nearest police station.

The three suspects will appear before Hoedspruit Periodical Court on Monday 29 October, on charges of business robbery and possession of suspected stolen properties.
