Vendors operating at Morebeng taxi rank in Molemole Municipality outside Polokwane are relieved the municipality kept their promise and fixed a leaking water pipe in the area.

POLOKWANE – The bust water pipe has been causing a bad smell which negatively affected businesses and vendors in the area for eight years, according to one of the vendors. CV previously reported on the matter in late July and Molemole Mayor, Edward Paya, promised the matter would be promptly attended to.

One of the vendors, Piet Motshosi, said their businesses were negatively affected by the water leak but now they are relieved to be able to do business after the municipality attended to the leaking water pipe.

“The situation was very bad and we sometimes went home without making any money. Our customers didn’t want to support our businesses because they feared for their health,” Motshosi said.

Paya said as a municipality they understand the plight of the vendors which is why they attended to the matter promptly.

“Reporting such matters in time will assist us to deploy our teams to attend to these matters before anything gets damaged,” Paya said.

“We urge all our residents to not ignore our municipality’s damaged properties but report them in time.”
