Changing hearts one good deed at a time

Valentia Cheune is a vibrant young woman, born on Valentine's Day with a love not only for her family, but also for everyone crossing her path.

POLOKWANE -She decided to enter the Mrs Polokwane 2019 pageant as she saw it as a way to empower women and to bring change to her community. “My dream is to make a positive impact on people’s lives which is why I want to utilise the Mrs Polokwane platform to do so and more.”

She is happily married to Mecial Tau-atona and have two children, six-year-old Morongwa and four-year-old Kgaogelo.

“When I told my husband about entering the competition, he was excited and amazed at the same time. He knows and understands my dream. My beneficiary for the pageant is the Cancer Association of South Africa and I chose them because I have personal experience with the impact cancer has on people’s lives as my mother was diagnosed with the disease. She lost the battle but I believe I can give hope or assistance to someone living with cancer through my outreach initiatives.”

Her event, Unleash Your Potential, took place in May and was aimed to empower and motivate young graduates or the youth in general, to use their gifts and talents to achieve their dreams in life.

“I want to show others how to use their inner beauty to touch lives during my journey as finalist. I look forward to learning from others, together making a positive impact on the lives of those we encounter. So far I have learned a lot and the journey continues to be amazing. I enjoy meeting new and amazing people and during my journey as finalist, I learned about networking, dressing conduct and how to apply makeup as well as how to organise and perform under pressure.”

When she is not spending time with her family or involved with her initiatives as a Mrs Polokwane finalist, she is an advisor at Eskom.
