Keeping fit with Khomotso Ledwaba

Fitness is a big part of many people's lives and this week we get to know Energy FM's fitness trainer, Khomotso Ledwaba

POLOKWANE – Khomotso hosts the Fitness Hour Saturday mornings from 07:00 to 08:00.

• What must I do to get rid of my belly fat? It’s a problem. Thabo Ledwaba, Ga- Molepo.

“Easy, know your body type in detail first. It must be one among ectomorph, endomorph and mesomorph. This will serve as base for how to deal with any fitness challenge. Losing any type of fat is tricky, you should take into consideration your calorie intake, always be in your caloric deficit. Always eat breakfast with a higher fibre intake to aid digestion. Lastly have your last meal an hour before you go to sleep.”

• What qualification do you have and do you love the work you do? Mpho Masenya, Seshego.

“I’m still a student, and fitness related I have an online registered programme called the NaptuneFTS™ programme assisting local and international clients. ‘Love’ wouldn’t express my passion for what I do fully. I make the world happy and healthier, one person at a time. Fitness is a lifestyle to me.”

• Is it true that training is addictive, ‘once you start you never want to stop’? Eddy, Emdo.

“I believe it is how it should be, but less it is less about addiction and more about discipline. Certain illnesses that are taking lives away are birthed from people not being physically active. So it’s a better addition to be fit.”

• How many hours a day do you spend at the gym? KG, Polokwane.

“It all depends on what I’m trying to achieve, the body physique I desire. Now I’m doing cardio in the morning and weight training in the afternoon.”

• Must I watch what I eat when I work out or doesn’t it matter? Lerato, Luthuli Phase 2.

“I’d say always watch what you eat. I hate to give my clients the freedom to eat what they like because sometimes they overlap. To answer your question, eat 80% nutrition and 20 fitness. You can have a cheat meal once or twice a week.”
