Passion drives young Angela to reach her dream

Angela Olifant daydreams of walking down the ramp with the crowd screaming her name and cheering her on.

POLOKWANE – Angela started modelling at the age of fifteen and is now a commercial/clothing model for local designer. She aspires to be a professional model and has not let the fact that she has not won a pageant deter her from pursuing her dream of modelling professionally.

“Modelling has always been my passion. I recently entered Miss Teen Face of Turf where I made it to top 5 and even though I did not win I am now a commercial model for local designers. I have to start somewhere and home is where I wanted to make my mark as a model,” she explained.

Her idol is English mode, actress and singer Naomi Campell, who she says sparked her love for fashion, beauty and modelling ever since she was a young girl. Just like, Angela, Naomi started modelling professionally at the age of 15 and has in her career established herself among the most recognizable and in-demand models of the late 1980s and the 1990s and was then one of six models of her generation declared supermodels by the fashion industry.

Although the youngster aspires to be a supermodel one day, she says she wants to get a qualification and possibly pursue a career as a Literature Accountant and Safety management. She also aims to assist the disadvantaged in her community just as her role model, Campbell did.

Locally she looks up to Liesl Laurie (former miss SA 2015 and model) and Lelo Mkansi (model and Miss Limpopo 2016). “They too are young and made their mark very early in their lives and that goes to show that attaining your dreams and goals are possible,” she added.

“I live by the motto Stay determined, be yourself and feel no pressure,” she concluded.
