21 suspects arrested for public violence following protests in Tubatse
Local residents blocked the Praktiseer Road, outside Burgersfort and later marched to the Tubatse Magistrates Court.
LIMPOPO – Police in Tubatse, outside Burgersfort. have arrested 21 suspects between the ages of 18 and 51-years-old for public violence.

According to police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the arrests emanate from violent protests which erupted from the early hours of Tuesday, 14 August 2108.
“Local residents blocked the Praktiseer Road, outside Burgersfort and later marched to the Tubatse Magistrates Court. The protesters were demanding that a murder suspect be denied bail,” he explained.
Public Order Police members were deployed to the area and the situation was stabilized.
“The suspects will appear before the Praktiseer Magistrates Court soon and more arrests are expected,” Ngoepe said.
Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Jan Scheepers condemns the violent nature of the protests as they infringe on the rights of other members of society.
