Police arrest two, seize dagga worth more than R1 million in Polokwane/Groblersdal operations

The fight against drug dealing and distribution was this week taken to another level when two suspects were arrested and large quantities of dagga and money confiscated during the intelligence driven operations conducted simultaneously in Polokwane and Groblersdal. 

POLOKWANE – Police followed up information that led them to different locations where the following arrests and confiscations were made:

In Polokwane a 35-year-old suspects dealing in dagga near a local mall was arrested and dagga, money and a vehicle were confiscated.

“The provincial crime intelligence and the detectives conducted a joint operation and successfully tracked down the suspect dealing drugs at the taxi rank near a local mall,” said Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

“During this operation, dagga with the estimated street value of R50 000, R40 800 in cash and a VW Polo was confiscated.”

Meanwhile in Groblersdal, a 30-year-old man was arrested and large quanties of dagga with the estimated street value of R500 000 and sets of different motor vehicles number plates were seized, Ngoepe said.

Preliminary Police investigations revealed that this suspect is supplying drugs to Mpumalanga and Limpopo areas.

Both suspects will appear before the Moutse and Polokwane Magistrate’s Courts respectively, to face charges of dealing and possession of dagga.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has commended all members for the well coordinated joint operations that led to these arrests.
“These arrests and seizures will go a long way in ridding this province of the scourge of drug-related crimes”, said General Ledwaba.

The Police investigations are still continuing, Ngeope concluded.
