Two die, 14 injured in head-on collision between Sibasa and Thoyandou

The Toyota Quantum caught fire with one passenger inside

LIMPOPO – Two people are dead and several injured after a Toyota Quantum caught fire after colliding with two vehicles at P277/1 Unit C between Sibasa and Thohoyandou at around 19:33 on Wednesday, said the Department of Transport

“A Toyota Quantum collided head side with the oncoming vehicle, an Audi sedan and a Toyota light delivery vehicle rear-ended the Audi,” said Spokesperson for the department, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala.
The Quantum caught fire with one passenger still inside, he added.

Two male passengers from the Quantum died and five people including the driver of the Audi were critically injured. Nine people including the driver of the Quantum sustained serious to slight injuries. No injuries were sustained by occupants in the Toyta LDV.

All injured were transported to the Tshilidzini hospital, said Moremi-Taueatsoala.

The exact cause of the accident is not yet known but speeding and reckless driving has not been ruled out.
