Gamers show off Fifa skills at mall

The African Video Gamers Corner (AVGC) hosted a gaming event at Savannah Mall on Saturday, 7 July.

POLOKWANE – This was the fourth annual AVGC gaming event and 32 gamers from different demographics, age groups and ethnicities joined the competition to show off their skills and gaming prowess in Fifa18 online.

“One of the highest ranking gamers in South Africa, ranked no 25, joined the tournament and bagged a second place. We had guys from Johannesburg who joined the tournament and we can’t wait for the next one,” said Faai’q Mohammed, the event organiser.

“I thank everyone who contributed to making the event such a resounding success, especially our friends and family as well as the Savannah Mall marketing team for allowing us to host the competition at the mall. I give special thanks to our Managing Director, Faai’q, for making the competition such a success as he did all the work by himself – marketing, setting up and managing the tournament,” AVGC founder, Samuel Mphaga, said.

This year’s AVGC champion walked away with R1 500 while the second and third place winners as well as the Fifa18 knock-out challenge champions received SterKinekor hampers.

Winners:

1. Jerry Morema.

2. Rethabile Thema.

3. Huzaifah Anver.

The next event will be hosted later this year and people interested are urged to look out for details on the official Facebook page African Video Gamers Corner.
