328 suspects apprehended during Operation Fiela II

The SAPS Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba applauded the men and women in blue for their hard work and dedication in dealing with crime so vigorously.

LIMPOPO – These simultaneous operations were conducted in forms of road blocks, stop and searches and patrols and concluded in the early hours of this morning .

These suspects were arrested for various crimes ranging from murder, business robberies, house robberies, armed robberies, common robberies , Immigration Act, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, possession of suspected stolen properties, possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles, rapes, illegal hunting, contravention of protection order, theft out of motor vehicle, malicious damage to property, possession of dagga and other drugs to burglary business and residential, reported Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

Some of the successes achieved:

In the Thohoyandou Cluster two suspects were arrested after Kruger National Park rangers received a tip-off from local residents about five men seen entering the park and a gunshot.

“The police together with the rangers tracked the suspects to Bendemutale village and on their arrival found two male suspects (aged 22 and 27) in possession of a Nyala game and KNP uniform concealed inside the school bags.”

They were arrested on the spot and will still appear before the  Musina Magistrate Court.

Meanwhile a 41-year-old suspect was arrested after being found in possession of an R1 rifle (unlicensed firearm) and ammunition in Muswodi Tshisimani village.

Lastly in the Modimolle Cluster, two suspects (aged 23 and 25) were arrested shortly after they committed robbery at a petroleum company.

“It is alleged the suspects gained entrance through a cut fence and tied up the security guard on duty, before robbing the company of a variety of tools, a laptop and an undisclosed amount of money. The officers tracked the shoe prints found at the crime scene until the two suspects were arrested and some of the stolen goods recovered.

Other items confiscated during the provincial operations included five vehicles, variety of knives, three firearms (including a toy gun) ammunition and accessories, drugs  and a variety of tools.

During roadblocks and stop and searches the following successes were archived:
• 383 Motor vehicle searched
• 612 people searched
• 192 vehicle tested.

All the arrested suspects will appear before the relevant magistrate courts soon.
