Modimolle police launch manhunt for imposter involved in several crimes

The suspect introduces himself as a 'Labour Inspector' but then disappears after his 'inspections' are done.

LIMPOPO – Police in Modimolle are on a massive manhunt for a suspect involved in a spate of serious crimes in different businesses in the area.

According to police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the manhunt follows an incident where an unknown man entered the local shopping mall pretending to be a Labour Inspector. He then informed the Mall Manager that he needed to inspect businesses within the mall, but later disappeared.

The suspect then went to a car wash in the area where he once again introduced himself as a labour inspector and preliminary police investigations have revealed that after conducting his ‘inspection’ at the car wash, the impostor disappeared with the manager’s phone.

“We believe that this suspect might have committed a number of crimes using the same modus operandi in and around the area or beyond but police investigations will tell as they are still unfolding,” Ngoepe explained.

The South African Police Service are calling upon the man pictured above to come to the Modimolle Police Station or the nearest police station to assist them with their investigations.

Anyone with information which can lead to his arrest may contact Detective Sergeant Amanda Rossouw at 071 133 8524; the crime stop number 0860010111; the crime line sms 32211 or the nearest police station.
