Two learners burnt to death in school hostel fire in Motetema

The cause of the fire is subsequent to ongoing police investigations.

LIMPOPO –  Police in Motetema, outside Groblersdal, are investigating two counts of inquest following the death of two learners who perished when their school hostel caught fire and burnt.

According to police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, residents near the Makaepea Muslim School noticed flames coming from the hostel on Monday night, 25 June. They then notified police, who reacted swiftly and began with their initial investigations.

Preliminary police investigations have found that the hostel caught fire and two learners aged six and 15 years-years-old were burnt to death.

“The cause of fire, which led to the death of these two children, is still unknown but ongoing police investigations will tell,” he concluded.
