Police search for two missing girls in Mankweng

17-year-old Marry Maponya and 14-year-old Karabo Emelia Makola both went missing in two seperate incidents.

POLOKWANE – Police in Mankweng are investigating two separate cases of missing people and have launched a search operation after the disappearance of two girls.

According to police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, 17-year-old Marry Maponya from Mankweng Unit F, went missing on 16 June 2018 and was last seen by her family going to a local park in the company of her friends.

“At the time of her disappearance, Maponya was wearing black jeans, a blue top and a pair of black takkies,” Ngoepe said.

In a separate case, police are also searching for 14-year-old Karabo Emelia Makola, who also went missing on 16 June 2018.

“Karabo resides in Mankweng Unit D and was last seen wearing a pink shirt, blue jeans and a pair of black boots. The victim left her home without informing anyone where she was going and after failing to locate her, the family reported the matter to the police,” Ngoepe explained.

Police are appealing to the community to assist them in locating the two teenage girls and anyone with information is requested to contact Warrant Officer Phala at 076 842 6820; the crime stop number 08600 10111, the Crime Line sms 32211 or the nearest police station.

Ngoepe concluded by saying that police investigations still continue.
