19-year-old sentenced for brutal murder of girlfriend

This sentence emanates from an incident that occurred in the Tafelkop last year

LIMPOPO – Makwana Gibbs Dillion (19) was recently sentenced by the Polokwane High Court to 10 years imprisonment for the murder of a Grade 10 learner on 6 June 2017.

The victim, who was identified as Dimakatso Tlaka, was a learner at Boleu High School and the girlfriend of Makwana.

According to statemnt issued by Police spokesperson, Const Maphure Manamela her body was discovered by a shepherd near the mountains in the Stadium View section.

“Her body had been hacked with a sharp object and she was still dressed in her school uniform. A manhunt for the suspect was launched and Makwana was arrested the same day,” added Manamela.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Major General Jan Scheepers has applauded the dedication of Motetema Detectives who ensured that justice prevailed. “This should serve as a deterrent to those who commit crime while under age that the long arm of the law will eventually catch with them,” concluded Scheepers.
