Kofifi Entertainment to take you back to the good ol days

Kofifi Entertainment is giving away three tickets so people can enjoy the get-together and take a nostalgic journey back in time to relive the sights and sounds of Sophiatown with the Kofifi Movement at The Carousel this month.

POLOKWANE – A joyful event filled with old school cars, clothing and music is the order of the day, where pure fun is guaranteed at Kofifi.

Kofifi Entertainment is giving away three tickets so people can enjoy the get-together and take a nostalgic journey back in time to relive the sights and sounds of Sophiatown with the Kofifi Movement at The Carousel this month.

The vibrant event, featuring Kofifi-inspired music and entertainment, will take place on Saturday, 30 June in celebration of Youth Month. The Carousel’s Nickelodeon will be transformed into a cultural hub by the Kofifi Movement to be enjoyed by lovers of this bygone era. The Movement sets the scene; “Allow yourself to be transported to a time in history that should never have been erased. Picture yourself entering a smoky shebeen but you know that the alcohol isn’t the point, there’s actually something bigger that everyone has come to find or express”.

This is an event where the ladies and gents will be dressed in their Sunday best, and it’s not even a Sunday, but just Kofifi-style. As the music plays, a few people sway and move to the beat on the dance floor, as some do it absent-mindedly in their seats. Your soul would be filled with either poetry, music, dancing or connecting with others when you leave the event.

Public Relations and Promotions Manager at The Carousel, Lameez Suliman, says the the event is a celebration of those who lived during the height of Apartheid.

“While the regime tried to restrict them, the people of integrated areas such as Sophiatown and District Six rebelled in the form of Kofifi dance, Kofifi music and other forms of entertainment. The Apartheid government tried to subjugate the people of Kofifi but they would always find ways to make themselves feel free. The Kofifi Movement will recreate the full Sophiatown feel with music, fashion, modes of transport and many more. It’ll be just like the snapshots you’ve seen, only this time, you’ll be in the picture,” Suliman said.

Tickets to the Kofifi event at The Carousel are available for R150 per person from Ticketpros.co.za and at Edgars, Jet, Jet-Mart, CNA, Choppies and Postnet. If you did not get your tickets online or at the stores, don’t hesitate, they will also be available at the door for R170. Doors open at 18:00 and refreshments will be sold at the venue.
