[TAKE NOTE] Load shedding likely this evening, says Eskom

There is a low probability of rotational loadshedding during the day but the possibility increases for the evening period from 17:00 to 21:00

POLOKWANE – According to a statement released by Eskom, there is a low probability of rotational loadshedding during the day as a result of power station units being returned to the system.

However, they say the probability of rotational loadshedding will likely increase for the evening peak period from 17:00 to 21:00 due to the normal expected increase in demand.

Should rotational loadshedding be implemented today it would be for a period up to four hours.

Eskom say they will advise if rotational loadshedding will be conducted in either stage 1, stage 2, stage 3 or stage 4, dependent on the capacity shortage.

“Loadshedding is conducted as a measure of last resort to protect the power system from a total collapse or blackout,” the power utility said.

Here are the schedules for Polokwane:

Load shedding schedules can be viewed on Eskom’s website and on the websites of local municipalities. One can also call Eskom’s contact centre at 0860 037 566.
