Benny's Sports Development and Academy from Makhado will represent South Africa at the Danone Nations Cup World Finals

POLOKWANE – This, after they beat Kgagudi Primary School from Sekhukhune 3-2 at Noorderland High School during the recent provincial final.

Benny’s Sports Development and Academy coach, Mbishi Mokwena, said this was the third time they won the provincial finals.

Benny’s Sports Development and Academy celebrate after beating Kgagudi Primary School from Sekhukhune district 3-2 at Hoërskool Noorderland at the Danone Nations Cup provincial final.

“All the boys still play soccer at the school and take part in different tournaments. Since we travelled to France to compete in the Nations Cup a couple of years ago, the boys are confident on and off the field and I hope that this year’s team will have the same opportunity,” said Mokwena.

Mbishi believes the teams that took part in the tournament were all strong and any school could have won the tournament.

“The provincial final has given us an opportunity to rectify our mistakes.

“My biggest concern during the final was my strikers as they missed a lot of scoring opportunities. I believe they were scared, especially since it was their first time playing in a big tournament,” he said.

Kgagudi Primary School coach, Moses Swafo, said this was the first year they competed in the Danone Nations Cup.

“Losing 3-2 against Benny’s Sports Development and Academy was a learning curve. I hope next year we will do even better,” said Swafo.
