Teens keep Energy FM ‘woke’

This week we get to know the teens who go on air at Energy FM on Saturdays between 08:00 and 09:00 to discuss current issues that affect them on the Energy Rush Weekend breakfast show.

POLOKWANE – Hoërskool Noorderland Gr 12 learner, Tiisetso Mashego (18) from Seshego Zone 1, Laerskool Piet Hugo Gr 7 learner, Puseletso Makgoba (13) from Emdo Park, Gr 10 Northern Academy learner, Atlegang Makwela (15) from Serala View, Hoërskool Noorderland Gr 12 learner, Thabiso Mashapa (18) from Rethabile Gardens, and Hoërskool Noorderland Gr 12 learner, Lebone Makganyago (17) from Bendor, were more than delighted to answer questions from the community.

• Does the fame that comes with being on radio every Saturday disturb your studies? Bokgoni Ga-Mamabolo.

Lebone Makganyago – “No, it really doesn’t, considering the fact that the show is one hour long and I consider it as a hobby.”

Thabiso Mashapa – “No it doesn’t disturb me because after the Saturday show I head to the library to study.”

Puseletso Makgoba – “No it doesn’t, actually every Saturday I’m free.”

Atlegang Makwela – “Not really because our priorities come first so I only set an hour per week aside for radio.”

• Hi teens, what inspired you to be on radio or is it just for fun? Maggy, Seshego Zone 3.

Lebone Makganyago – “I was inspired by people who work on radio and I am actually considering to do it in the long run.”

Thabiso Mashapa – “I was actually recruited but I had always had an interest in the media field because of my love for deep house music in the sense that I would say I was actually inspired by DJ Fresh and Bothwell BK Matewe.”

Puseletso Makgoba – “What inspired me to be on radio was actually a need to learn more and speak clearly. To see wrong from right, because I learn more from others.”

Atlegang Makwela – “I really wanted to be famous and got an opportunity to join the Teen Space Show.”

• Guys, if you were given an opportunity to pick the president of the country, who would you go for? Tom Legodi, Turf.

Lebone Makganyago – “Besides myself I would definitely go for current President, Cyril Ramaphosa.”

Thabiso Mashapa – “I would go for former President Thabo Mbeki.”

Atlegang Makwela – “I would stick with President Cyril Ramaphosa for now but in future me or Lebone.”
