POLOKWANE – Limpopo police officers, led by Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, embarked on Operation Fiela II from Monday morning, 14 May to this morning, 15 May.

The main operation was conducted in the Mankweng Cluster in the Botlokwa Policing area with the Provincial Commissioner physically participating in the operation.
According to police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the operation composed of various Saps members from various clusters as well as role players in partnership with community based crime prevention structures.
“The objective of this operation was to deal with the cross boarder crimes including vehicle theft crime syndicates, illegal immigration, mushrooming of drugs and road traffic transgressions. This was done through tracing wanted suspects, roadblocks, vehicle check points and intelligence driven tactical operations,” he added
During the Botlokwa operation, 19 illegal immigrants between the ages of 19 and 38-years-old were arrested as well as one person who was arrested for harbouring the illegal immigrants.
Furthermore, 21 traffic fines were issued to the value of R19 550 and 403 vehicles were searched .
Meanwhile, in Dennilton, Vuwani, Tzaneen, Burgersfort and Thohoyandou, 88 suspects between the ages 20 and 48-years-old were arrested for various offenses, ranging from assault GBH, contravention of the Road Traffic Regulation, failure to comply with the Liquor Act, rape, common robbery, business robbery, drunken driving, possession of dangerous weapons, Immigration Act, murder, malicious damage to property, unlicensed possession of firearm and ammunition.
“One motor vehicle was recovered in the Dennilton policing area which was abandoned. It was reported hijacked in Gauteng in Sinoville policing area, Pretoria,” he said.
One 9mm firearm with 59 rounds of live ammunition was recovered and it’s origin is still being determined through ongoing police investigations.
Ngoepe concluded by saying all the arrested suspects will appear before different Magistrates Courts throughout the Province, soon.
