Getting to know Exton: From the stage to Date my Family

After appearing as one of the people looking to find love on the popular South African TV show, Date My Family, Exton Mmuoe quickly became a favourite of Polokwane viewers.

POLOKWANE – This was largely due to the 24-year-old actor, radio presenter, motivational speaker and librarian’s cryptic descriptions of what he does for a living and generally speaking in riddles.

Date My Family is a show which helps single individuals find love by sending them on dates with their potential partner’s family.

Now BONUS gives readers the opportunity to get to know the real man behind all those funny and unexplainable moments on the show.

Originally form Moletjie Ga-Manamela, he now resides in Mankweng Turfloop, Exton. He attended primary school at Manamela Primary School, completing matric in 2012 at Maserole Secondary School.

“After matric I enrolled at the University of Limpopo (UL) in 2013 under the faculty of humanities, school of languages and communications, completing a BA degree in performing arts in 2015,” he said.

Last year Exton returned to UL to continue his studies, enrolling for a postgraduate diploma in information studies and technology.

“I began acting in 2013, being involved with stage, screen and radio acting. What inspired me to do drama was because in drama you could be anyone you want to be and you get to see life from many angles. You learn to see how people perceive the meaning of life as you play different characters.”

In 2014, Exton was part of a play called Blood Money, directed by Kedibone Manyaka from State Theatre.

“The play was performed at UL in 2015. Aside from that, I graced the National Arts Festival stage performing in a play called Enough is Enough.”

“In 2016 I turned my focus to screen acting, landing a role on some of Mzansi Channel shows such as It’s Complicated as a car guard, Keeping Score as a drunk haggler and Hard Copy as a journalist. Those were the most enjoyable and memorable moments of my acting career.”

Besides acting, Exton also performs as Master of Ceremonies (MC) at various events.

“I started out as MC in 2013 and I thoroughly enjoyed being the MC at this year’s Limpopo Look Of The Year pageant in March. I am set to host a gospel festival at a mall in Moutsiya and Mall@Lebo on 21 April.”

Exton will also be the MC at a fun day event in Ga-Matlala on 28 April alongside Thabo Leshole Mkhabela and Oratile Eunice Maetisa from the well-known SABC 1 drama, Skeem Saam.
