In the Zone with Energy FM’s Mashudu

This week we get to know Energy FM’s Beat Zone and Blast host, Mashudu Khorombi.

POLOKWANE –

• What is the first thing you do when you wake up? Diketso, Seshego Zone 2

“It’s very easy, I pray.”

• Who do you look up to and what inspired you to do radio? Matome Lerumo, Turfloop.

“I look up to every hard worker, someone who is working hard towards their dreams or what they believe in and are not giving up regardless of the obstacles. I loved radio from a very young age. I was never a television person, I’m still not, when I was 12 my dad bought me a radio. I would always tell him I’m going to be on radio because I love interacting with people, sending my opinions across and also hearing other people’s opinions. What better way to do this than via the radio?”

• Are you taken? Kagiso Nkuna, Polokwane.

“Taken is a bit extreme, Kagiso. I am in a relationship but I’m not married, lol.”

• How do you handle stress and pressure in radio? Who is your number one fan and where would you be now if they had not given you the support they did throughout your life? Mokgatla, Orel city in Russia.

“Prayer, read the Word and self motivation is very important when you deal with pressure. Honestly, I am my own biggest fan. I don’t rely on other people as they also have a life to run and honestly, I would never give up on me so I have no idea where I would be if I gave up on myself which is why giving up is not in my vocabulary.”

• Welcome to the Energy FM family. Thus far, who would you say is the coolest person at the station? Lesiba Kutu, Mokopane.

“Thank you. Wow, I must say everyone is cool in their own way and I like that about the station. Everyone brings a different cool, so I wouldn’t say one is better than the other.”

Malaka Prince from the University of Limpopo asked Mashudu the following questions:
• What motivated you to be on radio?

“My passion for speaking.”

What type of music do you like?

“I listen to hip hop, fusion and jazz.”

What is your favoured or favourite radio show?

“The Beat Zone and the Blast, of course.”

What are you willing to give us as listeners that is unique and how do you feel about being a member of Energy FM?

“I believe I’m a unique individual. My mindset is very different and I love working for the radio station, I mean I just got here but I’m already enjoying it.”
