Rankoana captures perfect moments

Rankoana Nakedi is a 19-year-old photographer from Mokopane who is known in the professional space as Ndk_thephotographer.

POLOKWANE – Starting out as a professional photographer in July last year, he is currently signed to his own independent label and photography company, NDK Gallery.

Rankoana discovered his interest in photography while doing his first year at the University of Limpopo where he is pursuing a degree in accounting. Asked why he is studying accounting if he is interested in photography, he explained his love lies with accounting.

“Photography is something that makes me happy. Photographs are proof that once, even if just for a heartbeat, everything was perfect hence each picture has a meaning,” he explained.

Rankoana was recently announced as one of the appointees for Blazey Fresh Birthday Saga Ambassadorship, and will attend an event which is set to fire up Limpopo.

The event will feature Limpopo acts like guru DJ Cappuccino, Muzo Brothers (Lima nominees), ThatBoy Dee & Master Jay (Capricorn FM), Becca & Aggrey (Energy FM), DJ KSB from Botswana and the ever energetic Divine Dance Crew.

Rankoana Nakedi has a flair for photography.

His journey started when he assisted his friend, Itumeleng Nzimande, during a Keyaka Magazine shoot. Nzimande suggested he starts taking pictures and get his own camera because she saw potential in him. That was how he discovered a sense of belonging in the field of photography. He has put his skills to the test when he worked with Nzimande covering Limpopo Black Management Forum’s Women’s Month event last year.

He went on to cover Mr and Miss Confidence Polokwane 2017/18 and has also covered Mr and Miss Heritage Nobody 2017. It was when he got the opportunity to be in Blazey Fresh’s Dlala Activation Tour, that he was kept and remained as his personal photographer. He was also Kilo Kat entertainment’s personal photographer when they performed during David Kau Halfman Halfcomic first iRock Comedy Limpopo.

Rankoana also covered the Miss Heritage Dihlophaneng 2017 pageant. His talent sets him apart and he was headhunted to become the personal photographer for Tswyza and Divine Dance Crew at the Limpopo Music Awards as well as at the Sapa Yopa Rally and First Friday celebration. Rankoana worked with Radio Turf during the station’s Back to School campaign, covered the Advancement of Black Accounting Students (Abasa) event with Sage and covered the Valentine Bash and Fresher’s Welcome Bash at the University of Limpopo. He has been nominated for the Polokwane F.A.M.E Awards in the art category as the best photographer.
