Don’t forget to fill up, petrol will be going up by 72c at midnight

Motorists will pay more for petrol due to the increase in VAT which took effect on 1 April.

POLOKWANE – The increase was largely influenced by the rise in the fuel levy and the road accident fund as announced in February by finance minister Malusi Gigaba.

According to the Department of Energy, motorists will be expected to pay 72 cents more for 95 octane and 69 cents more for 93 octane.

Diesel will go up by 65 cents across all grades while paraffin will rise by 2 cents.

The department added that other factors which contributed to the increase included the rand depreciating slightly and the price of crude oil increased.

Fuel changes from March to April:

95 Petrol R13.76 R14.48
93 Petrol R13.54 R14.23
0.05% Diesel (wholesale) R12.10 R12.75
