#WFD – Bacon-Wrapped Cheesy Meatballs

Serve with noodles and vegetables.

POLOKWANE – If you love bacon, then this recipe is for you. If you do not eat bacon then simply replace it with beef slices.

What’s for Dinner suggests making your own home-made meatballs and, for something a little different, wrap them in bacon and cheese. Serve with pasta and a tomato sauce.

Ingredients

  1. 500g mince
  2. red onion, finely chopped
  3. 1 x KNORR Brown Onion Gravy
  4. 1 egg
  5. red pepper, finely chopped
  6. 1 tbsp Robertsons Mixed Herbs
  7. salt and pepper (to taste)
  8. 2ml Robertsons Crushed Garlic
  9. 12 slices streaky bacon
  10. 12 slices ready cheese, sliced (optional)

Method

  1. In a large bowl add all ingredients, except bacon, and mix well.
  2. Using a 125 ml measuring cup measure out the mince mixture.
  3. Roll the mixture into balls.
  4. Wrap a bacon slice around each meatball.
  5. Place on a greased baking tray and bake in a preheated 180°C oven for about 45 to 50 minutes or until cooked.
  6. Serve with noodles and vegetables.
  7. OPTIONAL: When cooked, pop a slice of cheese over the meatballs and place under the griller for 5 minutes until the cheese has melted.
