[TRAFFIC ALERT] Avoid R71 if you aren’t going to Moria, says Traffic Dept

According to Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala, spokesperson for the department, there are heavy delays from both sides.

POLOKWANE – Four million pilgrims, from SA and other countries, are expected to converge on Moria for the Zion Christian Church’s Easter gathering.

According to Moremi-Taueatsoala, traffic is backed up heavily on both sides of the R71 leading towards Zion City.

“It is a bit of a problem as cars slowly gaining access and as a result, it is causing congestion,” he said.

Motorists, who aren’t going to Moria, are advised to use the R81 if they intend going to Tzaneen and the R36 if you are from Tzaneen intending to come to Polokwane.

Moremi-Taueatsoala added that traffic officials together with National Traffic officials as well as management from Moria are currently trying to deal with the situation as there is a parking problem inside the venue.

“We are urging motorists to be patient during this time and if possible, avoid the R71 at all costs if you are not going to Moria,” he concluded.
