[WATCH] Home Affairs to investigate Beitbridge Official seen on social media while working

POLOKWANE – A video of a Home Affairs official at the Beitbridge Border Post has gone viral overnight.
The video has since been shared over 600 times and watched more than 16 thousand times

In the video, the official is seen stamping someone’s passport while scrolling through Facebook and Whatsapp.
The video was shared by Home Affairs Minister, Malusi Gigaba, who said he was informed of the video on Wednesday morning and has asked the Department of Home Affairs to investigate the matter.
He also said he wants swift action taken against the official.
The Department of Home Affairs, in a statement, says that according to their policy, front office officials are prohibited from using their cellular phones on duty.
“The official has been identified and she will be subjected to internal disciplinary processes. Further to this, disciplinary measures have commenced against the three supervisors on the shift for lack of adequate supervision,” the statement read.
