Suspected criminals intercepted, one burnt alive in mob attack near Burgersfort

The Saps Provincial Commissioner Lt General Nneke Ledwaba has condemned the continuous acts of mob-attacks and killings which are still prevalent in some parts of the province.

 

LIMPOPO – This condemnation follows a mob-related incident in the Tubatse Policing area outside Burgersfort where two vehicles were set alight and one person killed, said Police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

It is alleged the deceased was part of a group of suspects who were intercepted while on their way to rob a business in Ga-Mokgotho village. Residents in the area attacked the three suspects forcing them to flee their vehicles and the area. The deceased was however trapped by the group and was burnt alive inside the one vehicle. The second vehicle was later also set alight and burnt to ashes.

According to reports the deceased is a 29-year-old man from ga-Mashamothane village near Burgersfort but further forensic investigations are still underway to confirm his identity. The two accomplices who fled the scene are still  unknown, confirmed Ngoepe.

A case of murder and two counts of malicious damage to property are being investigated.

The suspects involved in this said matter are still unknown and there is no arrest as yet.
