Over R1 million worth of dagga plants confiscated during Limpopo SAPS operation

The plantations were uncovered in Roossenekal and Vuwani areas respectively

LIMPOPO – The Joint Crime prevention operations focusing on the fight against the mushrooming of drugs throughout the province, continues to yield positive results, said the police on Thursday afternoon.

This follows the uncovering of dagga plantations in Roossenekal and Vuwani areas respectively.

Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe reported: “In the Roosenekal Policing area outside Groblesdal, the joint operation composed of the Roossenekal Crime prevention and the Dennilton K9 Units uncovered a huge dagga plantation at the Railway Squatter camp outside Roossenekal after a tip off from members of the Community. The estimated street value of the dagga is around R1 million.”

No arrests have been made as yet, however, Mr Moela is requested to come to the Roossenekal Police Station in order to assist with investigations into this matter.

Meanwhile in the Thohoyandou Policing area, two suspects have been arrested and 287 dagga trees uncovered during a SAPS Intelligent Led Joint Operation “Evergreen” conducted at Lwamondo Tshiema village in the Vuwani Policing area, added Ngoepe.

The estimated street value of the dagga is around R90 000.

The suspects (aged 41 and 50) will appear before the Thohoyandou Magistrates Court soon.

Police investigations on both incidents still continue.
