School building in Vuwani torched, police investigate case of arson

The police appeal to anyone who has information that can lead to the apprehension of the suspect(s) responsible for torching a building at Shondoni Secondary School in Vuwani on Friday morning, to contact their nearest police station.

LIMPOPO – According to reports the police were summoned by the school principal at around 05:16. They arrived on the scene at Lwamondo village to find the administration block  already gutted by the flames, said Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo.

“Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect(s) broke open the burglar doors of the admin block and then set the building alight. Four computers, printers, safe, steel cabinet and all administration block locks were damaged during the incident.”

The total value of all items damaged including the building itself is estimated to be around R1,2 million, confirmed Mojapelo.

The motive for this incident is not known at this stage but police investigations are continuing.

The suspect(s) in this matter are unknown at this stage and while investigations are underway, police are making an appeal to anyone with information that can assist with the tracing of these culprits to contact Brigadier James Esbach at 0825760753 or police emergency number 08600 10111 or Crime line sms number 32211 or visit the nearest police station.
