Latz aims to solidify her spot in the gospel industry

Latz, who released her debut album in December 2017, shared that her favourite song to perform is 'Mukutsuri'

POLOKWANE – Nkhensi Laticia Mthombeni, affectionately known as Latz, never ceases to amaze with her vocal abilities.

Born and bred in Phalaubeni in Giyani, Mthombeni holds a diploma in human resource management and currently juggles her music career and her job as an HR officer.

Mthombeni began grooming her singing career through Sunday school, the school choir and by joining the church worship team at the age of nine.

She is now signed under RnL Empire which produces her music, manages her career and handles her PR needs.

“The first time I had to do a solo performance on stage was at an event at Ramahlodi Sports Centre. It was very exciting because I am doing what I love,” she explained.

Latz, who released her debut album in December 2017, shared that her favourite song to perform is Mukutsuri, which loosely translates to saviour. This is also the album title.

Still overwhelmed by the amount of support received from people around the country, she extended her gratitude to her manager Risuna Maluleke who not only discovered her, but assisted her in elevating her career.

“He inspires me because he pushes me to the limit. I write songs with his help. He comes with melodies and I put lyrics and sometimes he helps write songs and I sing them. We actually spend a lot of time on the piano writing songs. I am also grateful for the support from my parents and grandparents,” she explained.

Plans are currently underway for a live DVD recording during the course of the year.

“I’ll be releasing singles and music videos as well. I have learned that when you want to do something; just do it. Don’t wait for someone to tell you to do it, rather try and when you fall, pick yourself up and do it again until you get it right. Also remember that everybody needs a mentor. Get yourself a mentor who understands what you are venturing into so that they can guide and help you through every step of the way,” she shared.

Her music is accessible on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon and Spotify and hard copies can be purchased at Dakota in Polokwane.

Fans can also follow her on her social media accounts on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook as Latz.
