#WFD – Beef Stew

Serve this hearty meal with rice or sadza

POLOKWANE – A stew is a combination of solid food ingredients that have been cooked in liquid and served in the resultant gravy.

Ingredients in a stew can include any combination of vegetables (such as carrots, potatoes, onions, beans, peppers and tomatoes) or meat.

Ingredients

  1. 15ml cooking oil (for frying)
  2. 1 onion, chopped
  3. 1 green pepper, chopped
  4. 30ml Rajah Medium Curry Powder
  5. 5ml Robertsons Barbecue Spice
  6. 1 tomato, chopped
  7. 500g beef chuck, cut into cubes
  8. 2 potatoes, peeled and chopped
  9. 2 carrots, chopped
  10. 1 Knorrox Beef Stock Cube
  11. 375ml water
  12. 30ml KNORR Minestrone Soup

Method

  1. Heat the oil in a pot and fry the onion and green pepper until soft
  2. Add the Rajah Medium Curry Powder, Robertsons Barbecue Spice and tomato
  3. Fry for about two minutes
  4. Add the beef chuck and fry until well browned
  5. Add the potatoes, carrots and Knorrox Beef Stock Cube, stir well and add the water
  6. Cover and simmer for 40 minutes, stirring occasionally
  7. Add the Knorr Minestrone Soup, mixed with 4 tablespoons of water to form a smooth paste, to the pot and allow it all to simmer for 5 minutes until it becomes thick
  8. Serve with rice or sadza
