Two die after vehicle catches fire along N1 south

Two people were burnt alive when the vehicle they were travelling in caught fire after a collision with a second vehicle along the N1 South on Monday early morning.

LIMPOPO – The collision happened just before the Maubane off ramp, in waterberg district.

According to a statement issued by the spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Matome Moremi, it is alleged that the driver of a Mercedes-Benz collided rear-ended a VW Polo (travelling in the same direction) after  overtaking a heavy motor vehicle. The VW Polo caught fire and two occupants were burnt alive.

The possible cause of the accident is speeding, however this will still be investigated by the Pienaars Police Station, concluded Moremi.
