Double murder at graveside: four suspects arrested so far, says the police

Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of two men at a graveyard on Saturday morning.

LIMPOPO –  Following the horrific incident the Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba established a Dedicated Team composed of the Crime Intelligence, Detectives ,Public Order Police (POP) and Crime prevention members which immediately traced the suspects responsible for this mob attack, says Police SPokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

“The suspects (aged between 19 and 59) were arrested on Saturday afternoon and have been positively connected to two counts of murder, malicious damage to property, violation of grave and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.”

During these arrests, a 9mm firearm which is believed to be one of the weapons used to kill the two deceased, was also confiscated, he confirmed.

The arrested suspects will appear before the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court on Monday 8 January 2018. More arrests are still expected.

Husband, friend shot and burnt to death while attending wife’s funeral

LIMPOPO – The Police in Tubatse outside Burgersfort are looking for a group of mourners who attacked and burnt two men to death at around 08:00 at Mashifane village graveyard this morning (Saturday, 6 January 2018).

It is alleged that they were attacked by mourners who were had attended the funeral of the wife of one of the deceased. “They attacked them using various objects until one mourner produced a firearm and shot both of them. They then burnt the bodies, threw the remains into the grave and placed the woman’s coffin before covering the hole with soil and fleeing the scene,” reported Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

The Police were summoned and all three bodies, including the deceased wife, were exhumed for further police investigations.

The motive behind this incident is still unknown and the suspects involved in this matter are still being sought by the police.

The Provincial Commissioner LT. General Nneke Ledwaba has condemned this incident and calls for residents of Limpopo call  to stop these barbaric acts of mob-related attacks.
