Tip-off leads to arrest of three trio crime suspects, recovery of vehicles and firearms

The SAPS operation was conducted in the Praktiseer area on Tuesday night

 

LIMPOPO – In the Tubatse Policing area outside Burgersfort, a sting joint operation led to the arrest of three suspects believed to have been part of a crime syndicate which have been terrorising  local communities especially businesses in the area, confirmed the police on Wednesday 3 January 2018.

According to a statement issued by Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the operation, composed of the Crime Intelligent and Crime prevention unit, was conducted in the Praktiseer area last night (Tuesday 2 January 2018).

 

“This major breakthrough was achieved following a quality and reliable information received from residents after a business robbery at the local shop in Alverton outside Burgersfort on the 23 December 2017.”

During the operation three vehicles (red Golf 7, white Mercedes Benz and a grey Vw Polo), a 303 rifle, a 9mm pistol and ammunition and house breaking equipment was confiscated, added Ngoepe.

The suspects (aged between 31 and 36) have also been linked to a series of business robberies in and around the Mecklenburg and Driekop areas, confirmed Ngoepe.

They will appear before the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles, possession of false registration number plates and business robberies.

Police investigations still continue.

The Provincial Commissioner LT. General Nneke Ledwaba has applauded the team of Police Officers who participated in this operation for a job well done.

“We believe that this milestone achievement will bring a relief to those affected communities especially the business community. A special message must be directed to all the criminals out there that, they can run but they can’t hide until the long arm of the law catches on them,” concluded General Ledwaba.
