Taking Polokwane to the Party District on Energy FM
Getting to know Energy FM and Choice FM's Party District host.
POLOKWANE – This week we get to know Energy FM and Choice FM’s Party District Host Sello Peter Mr Gee Kgatle.
• We dance to the music you play on your show (Party District). You are so talented indeed. I’ve met you a couple of times and what you are on radio is what we see in person, where are you from and why did you choose radio? Did anyone influence your crazed character or is it natural? DJ The Saint Pablo, Sebayeng.
“I am from Unit G in Mankweng and the reason I chose radio is because I have always been a radio fan, I used to buy stereos back in the days so that I could always carry the medium with me wherever I go, so I just figured that since I am a very talkative person, there is no other place that I would rather be than the radio world. Plus I’ve always been told that I’m very entertaining and all, so what better way to be talking and entertaining than on radio? I had no influence at all. This is what I was born to do. And the crazed character is just who I am, I choose to be as real as possible. So for me it is to be real or to stay at home.”
• What is that one thing you can’t go a day without and are you a sporty person? Alex, Botlokwa.
“Yes I can say that I am a sporty person. I’m really quick on my feet, so I can say I am a runner, plus I am good with chess.
The thing that I can’t go a day without is music. Music is my life, I can’t be without it.”
• Hi Team. I want to know what ‘Mr Gee’ spends most of his money on. Martin Dimarty Semenya, Seshego Zone 2.
“I spend most of my money on upgrades. I am all about progress and investing so I spend my money on improving the way that I live and the way that people around me should live. I am the type that wants to look back with a smile and say “Mr Gee, money well spent.”
• What kind of movies do you enjoy watching and who is your favourite radio presenter? Nkele Mojapelo, Greenside
“I enjoy watching action packed romantic comedies, a little science fiction and stand-up comedy. But it all depends on the mood I would be in and the kind of company I keep.
My favourite presenters are Ashifashabba (Energy FM) and TBo Touch (Metro FM) locally and internationally it has to be Funkmaster flex Radio DJ (New York City’s Hot 97 radio station).”
