“In a consistent and relentless effort to fight serious and violent crimes, including planned domestic murders, the police have arrested the wife (37) of the deceased, her boyfriend (42) and the alleged hitman (34).”

According to Ngoepe, on Saturday, 22 July, the deceased (Daniel Ramaipadi, 53) was shot and killed at his home in Ga-Motodi village outside Burgersport, by unknown gunmen. The gunmen also hijacked his car before fleeing the scene.

The car was recovered, abandoned, after two days some kilometres away from the scene at Mashifane sports field in the Tubatse policing area.

After the incident was reported to the police, a special task team was established and a manhunt ensued, leading to the arrest of the three suspects.

“The police are investigating information that the wife might have conspired with her boyfriend to hire the hitman to kill her husband,” Ngoepe said

The deceased’s wife appeared before the Praktiseer Magistrate Court today, on a charge of murder.

She was denied bail until 13 December, for bail application and her two accomplices will appear before the same court on Thursday, 7 December.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Bafana Linda commended the team for solving what he says is a complicated case, within a short space of time.

“Anyone who still engages in any form of criminal conduct including this type of the planned heinous acts, their days are numbered. We believe that this great achievement will bring a closure to the family, relatives and friends.” concluded Linda.
