Rameez Patel to spend festive season behind bars

Patel will have to wait till 12 January 2018 to hear if he will be released on bail.

POLOKWANE – Patel stands accused of murdering his mother, Mehjabeen Patel in September this year.

The case was postponed due to the state prosecutor, Mashudu Mudau, allegedly being indisposed.

Earlier in November three prisoners, among whom allegedly was Charles Chialani (30), escaped from the police holding cells.

Chialani was allegedly arrested for house robbery and for being an accomplice in Rameez Patel’s mother’s murder case.

Questions posed to the police as to when Chialani was arrested and when he appeared in court went unanswered and anybody with information regarding his whereabouts, may contact Captain Richard Boshomane at 084 322 1341; the nearest police station; the crime stop number 0860010111 or the crime line sms 32211.

Patel is also standing trial in the Polokwane High Court on the murder of his wife Fatima in April 2015.

He was released on bail for this murder, but was moved from the police holding cells to the correctional facility earlier in November after allegedly planning to escape.
