Exotically delicious ice-cream in the heart of Haenertsburg

Exotic Ice Creams is situated in the heart of the village of Haenertsburg where you can pig out a delicious and wide variety of ice-creams, messy milkshakes and waffles.

HAENERTSBURG – When Ruanda Snyman (30) and her husband Louis (43) moved to the village they wanted to do more than ‘Breaking Free’, their Christian counselling and ministerial work.

After considerable market research they opened Exotic Ice-Creams in the little Dutch-gabled building sandwiched between FoodZone and The Tin Roof three months ago.

Ruanda who hails from Cape Town and Louis, who was in construction and is from Polokwane, were match-made by friends at a braai in Polokwane. Ruanda then moved to Polokwane and worked for Canon while counselling part time.

There are lots of different flavours in the frozen edible ice creams. It all depends what’s in stock at the Pretoria laboratory.

The messy milkshakes are heaven on earth.

At the moment there’s bubblegum, tequila, hazelnut, wasabi, garlic, caramel, candy floss and Turkish delight with tequila being the hot favourite.

The ice creams are made with milk and cream but the Snyman couple is looking at ice creams to suit diabetics and vegans.

The messy milkshakes, at R60 each, are also a huge hit. The messiness consists of all things sweet like peanut brittle, cake, sweets and chocolate. Customers get to keep the jar in which the messy milkshakes are presented.

Exotic Ice Creams is open, during the day, from Fridays to Sundays. Ruanda says their products are popular no matter what the weather. Exotic Ice Creams will be open throughout the holiday from 13 December to 6 January, excluding public holidays.

As far as counselling is concerned ‘Breaking Free’ deals mainly with marriage counselling with communication and compromise being the main problems. The Snymans have also noticed a disturbing increase in bullying at schools, which stems from problems within the family, as well as issues with witchcraft in the Haenertsburg area. Part of their ministerial work offers healing and this is particularly effective when dealing with witchcraft.
