84 suspects arrested in different areas in Limpopo for possession of drugs

LIMPOPO – 84 suspects have been arrested for the possession and dealing in drugs, during an ongoing intelligence led joint operation in the crime infested areas within the province.

Operation Zonke “6” composed of various Police Units such as the Crime Intelligence, the Narcotic Task Team, the Provincial Drug Unit and the Provincial Detectives was up and running until this morning (Saturday), said Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

The arrests made during the operation included the following:

Four suspects, aged between 25 and 46, were arrested in the Bela-Bela Cluster at Thabazimbi and Northan areas.

During the arrest 30 sachets of CAT, seven sachets of rock, R1500.00 cash, 500 grams of CAT, 10 grams of crystal meth, a VW polo Vivo and 11 packets of CAT were confiscated.

In the Modimolle Cluster, three suspects aged 29 and 43, were arrested and 54 sachets of cat, 64 grams of crystal meth, 500 sachets of nyaope and a VW Polo GTI recovered.

In the Mankweng Cluster at Haenertsburg outside Tzaneen, two suspects aged 27 and 36, were arrested and 54 sachets of Nyaope and 69 sachets of CAT recovered.

In the Mokopane Cluster, nine suspects aged between 21 and 44, were arrested and 160 sachets of nyaope, 19 sachets of rock and 17 balls of dagga recovered.

In the Polokwane Cluster, three suspects aged between 26 and 38, were arrested and 200 grams of Nyaope and 500 grams of heroin recovered.

In the Giyani Cluster at Phalaborwa area, a 45 years old man was arrested and 6,3 grams of Tik and  6,1 grams of CAT recovered.

In the Lephalale Cluster, a 37 year old man was arrested and 12 sachets and 35 grams of CAT recovered.

Following these sting operations at the identified areas, an additional 59 suspects aged between 20 and 49-years-old, were arrested in other clusters sporadically, added Ngoepe.

The following was recovered during these arersts:
18,5 grams of nyaope and CAT, 80 sachets of nyaope, an Isuzu bakkie and a VW Golf.

36 boxes, 3x 5 litres, 252,95 grams, 1,950 kg, 0.445 kg and 199 packets of dagga, 170 dagga plants were also recovered.

The Saps Provincial Commissioner Lt General Nneke Ledwaba has commended these teams for a job well done.

“This province cannot become a drug heaven and as a result, all drug syndicates will be dismantled in all clusters,” concluded General Ledwaba.

The arrested suspects during these operations will appear before the different magistrate’s courts throughout the Province, concluded Ngoepe.
