Shared potatoes bring smiles to many faces

Christo and Marie van Tonder, two local farmers, decided share their good fortune and donate 500 bags of potatoes to residents in the city who may be in need.

POLOKWANE – The potatoes were donated to the Rotary 100 Club of Pietersburg to be distributed as they see fit to those in need.

With the assistance of Dynamic Transport the consignment was delivered to the city and the Rotarians distributed the potatoes to more than 40 deserving organisations and 100 families in and around the city.

One of the Rotarians, Ian Duncan, said projects like these are what Rotary is all about.

“We want to know we make a life better and there is no better way to do so than by giving someone food when they did not have any,” he said.

Saartjie du Toit, house mother of the Polokwane Nasorgsentrum, one of the beneficiaries, told Review donations like this were something special and added they are feel blessed when people in the community support them and what they do.
