Freddy Leokaoke is one with the music

Leokaoke is a passionate singer who claims to have inherited this talent from his vocalist mother and his trumpet player father.

POLOKWANE – “I’m currently busy with my Extended Play (EP) single which will be out by February next year. I started singing when I was in Gr 6 and from then on, I took it up as a career. I also kept myself occupied by doing courses at different colleges as I wanted something solid instead of solely focusing on singing,” he explained.

He has performed at the Macufe Mangaung African Cultural Festival and was also featured on Mzansi Magic’s music reality show, Clash of the Choirs.

“I started singing professionally in 2013. The singing industry is very challenging but I told myself that persistence, commitment and consistency is the only way to success,” he advised.

Freddy was enrolled in Reaitumela Intermediate School in the Free State for his primary and secondary education. He went on to further his studies at Flavius Mareka FET College where he studied office administration. He later moved to Polokwane to complete a boiler making course at Jeppe College.

He advised those who wish to pursue a career in music to get rid of any and all low expectations. “Don’t make little plans for life, enlarge your vision and get ready for new things because your best days are not behind you, they are in front of you. Also, learn to appreciate good things as by so doing, you attract them,” he concluded.
