Disability centre powers up with installation of 14 solar geysers

Ellies Holdings has come on board to assist Meropa Casino and Entertainment World with the renovations and refurbishments of ReaKgona Disability Centre

POLOKWANE – Ellies Holdings has come on board to assist Meropa Casino and Entertainment World with the renovations and refurbishments of ReaKgona Disability Centre.

The company donated 14 solar geysers to Meropa Casino and Entertainment World to assist the shelter.

Meropa Casino and Entertainment World corporate social investment practitioner, Mothomoni Mapela said the installation of the geysers had already begun at the centre, with “Meropa House”, a residence at the centre that was being renovated receiving six geysers, while eight geysers were installed at another house at the centre.

“The renovation standards at ReaKgona Disability Centre are in line with the Sun International EarthGlow programme. This programme focuses on the promotion of a sustainable and friendly culture among other things, including reducing water consumption, energy and waste while conserving the living environment,” Mapela said.

“Solar geysers use renewable energy, and on very sunny days, solar geysers can bring water to boiling point. The geysers would ensure the centre reduced its use of electricity,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of Ellies Holdings, Jacques van Blerk said they decided to partner with Meropa Casino and Entertainment World in this project as they believed that together they could support social upliftment and make a difference in South Africa.

“It is the vision of Ellies Holdings to provide sustainable benefits to the communities in which we operate,” he said.
