Double Trouble look forward to LIMAs

New kids on the block, Double Trouble, have been nominated for the Limpopo Music Awards (Lima).

POLOKWANE – DJ Janisto and Calvin CK Nkhumeleni have been nominated in the best group, best Kelobedu single and song of the year category with the songs they categorise as educational and cautious music.

“To be nominated means a lot to us. This is something that shows that we have made a mark in the music industry. We have worked hard, even through all the obstacles that we have come across within the music industry. This just proves that we belong to the province and that we give individuals the message and music they want,” Jan DJ Janisto Maluleke, one of the duo explained.

The Bolobedu based duo have been at it for a while, at most with no avail until they finally aced the formula with their hit single Be Careful which features Muungu Africa.

As signed artists of Open Mic Production, that has also given them the confidence they needed to take on the industry. “We met at an event in 2009 and sat down to discuss the possible formation of a group. So when we were busy creating music, we decided on forming a group called Double Trouble,” CK explained.

According to the duo, fame and reality are two different concepts and one should always keep this in mind.

“You must know the kind of people you are dealing with and live among seeing as there are many perceptions and attitudes. Some people want to see you down and out and some will pretend to help you with the sole intention of witnessing your downfall. We analyse every single situation we find ourselves in and also maintain our celebrity status. Many people regard us as celebrities but we never take advantage of this, we know we are who we are and are in this position because of our fans,” DJ Janisto explained.

Their lifetime goal is to broaden their reach within the music industry as well as to have an international fan base.

“We were motivated by other DJ’s and musicians who were doing it before us. Artists such as Penny Penny, Peter Tenet, Joe Shirimane and Colbert Mukwevho. When we started this it was not easy, as we were riddled with demotivating words and were also experiencing criticism, but we decided to hold fast onto what we wanted because we knew what it would bring forth. Our future plans are big, we would also like to assist upcoming artists,” DJ Janisto concluded.
