Woof-woof, its Christmas fur us too

Santapaws collects gifts for shelter animals and outreach organisations. Review readers can now also become part of this project by pledging and donating a box.

POLOKWANE – Animal lovers will go to extremes for their pets, like buying clothing for them, or hosting a birthday party. Some even buys Christmas presents for their pooch. This can be anything from a big juicy bone to a toy.

Unfortunately, are not all animals this lucky, some even end up in a shelter over the festive season. Animal-lovers got together and established a non-profit organisation called Santapaws.  This registered organisation collects gifts for shelter animals and outreach organisations.

Review readers can now also become part of this project by pledging and donating a box. They are familiar with organisations like Lostandfoundlittlefriends, Catsnip and Diva Animal Project. These organisations go out of their way to assist furry friends in and around Polokwane, without asking for money.

There are four categories namely dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. Each box treats one animal and can be decorated any way.

What should be in this box?

  • Two things yummy (like a snack)
  • Something warm (blanket, jersey)
  • Something fun (like a toy)
  • Something useful (water bowl, leach)
  • Something optional for the staff

All five items should be packed in a packet or in a box if you pledge online. Attach you label to the box with Sellotape or staple it securely to the packet.

Readers can pledge a physical box or make a financial pledge.
