Reservoir levels low: muni urges residents to limit consumption to domestic use only

Members of the public are advised to use water sparingly to allow the reservoirs levels to pick up.

POLOKWANE – This follows a number of stoppages experienced in the past week as a result of maintenance related activities at the plants, says Matshidiso Mothapo, Communications Manager and Marketing Unit at the Polokwane Municpality.

“The reservoir levels are currently critical and will not be able to pick up for as long as the warning from the municipality about water conservation continues to fall on deaf ears.”

“This will result in an unsustainable supply of water that is characterised by continuous disruptions of supply that will affect those in the high catchment areas within in the city, Mankweng and Seshego.”

Residents in the low catchment areas who are not affected by the disruptions are encouraged to use water sparingly by limiting consumption to domestic usage only. Watering of lawns and gardens is prohibited, he adds.

“Residents are reminded that a surcharge amount is applicable to consumers who use water above what is allocated per single household per month.”

Conservation of water is the responsibility of all and we must all play our part.

Reservoir level readings are as follows:
Shai: Potgieter: 47%
Seshego: 10%
Ext34: 100%
50ml: 19%
F30ml: 5%
D30ml: 10%
