LIMPOPO -A 52-year-old pastor from Lulekani Township and a 46-year-old pastor from Namakgale, each accused of rape during separate incidents recently, appeared before the Lulekani Magistrate’s Court near Phalaborwa on Monday.
According to Police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe , the 52-year-old pastor accused of repeatedly raping his 14-year old-half sister appeared on two counts of rape and four counts of sexual assault and his case was remanded to 31 October 2017 for a formal bail application.
The 39-year-old pastor accused of raping an eight-year-old girl, also appeared before the same court and was remanded in custody until 31 October 2017 for a formal bail application, Ngoepe added.
Police investigations continue in both cases.
LIMPOPO – A 52-year old pastor was arrested near Lulekani Township for allegedly raping his 14-year old-half sister.
Police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the victim had been living with the suspect since she was three-year-old, following the death of her mother.
“The suspect, who is a pastor at a local church, has been raping the victim since she was 11-years-old. The victim reported the matter to the police who traced the suspect and arrested him,” Ngoepe explained.
The suspect will appear before the Lulekani Magistrates Court on Monday, 23 October, on charges of rape and sexual assault.
Meanwhile, a 46-year-old pastor was arrested in Namakgale outside Phalaborwa for raping his 14-year-old step daughter.
He was arrested after the victim’s mother caught him in the act. She immediately reported the crime to the police.
“Preliminary investigations have revealed the suspect has been raping the victim since February 2015 up to date,” Ngoepe said.
He briefly appeared before the Namakgale Magistrate Court and was remanded in custody with no bail until 26 October for bail application and for further police investigations to take place.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Bafana Linda has condemned these acts of criminality perpetrated against children in the strongest terms.
