New Mogalakwena Municipal Manager appointed

The Mogalakwena Municipality appointed its new Acting Municipal Manager, Andile Mashele during a special council sitting at Lleka Lekalakala Council Chambers last Wednesday.

LIMPOPO – The Divisional Head Communications for Mogalakwena Municipality, Malesela Selokela said the Mogalakwena Municipality Mayor Cllr Andrina Matsemela was empowered by council to make a written submission to the office of the MEC for CoGHSTA to request secondment.

According to Selokela, Mashele was in the position as the Chief Director Transversal Supply Chain at the Limpopo Department of Treasury over seven years. “Mashele has extensive experience in local, provincial government and the private sector having worked in the following institutions: Nkhondo Municipality as the Chief Financial Officer in Mpumalanga, ESKOM, SARS and various parastatals.”

Mashele’s appointment as Acting Municipal Manager will not exceed three months, which is in line with the Municipal Systems Act. Mogalakwena Municipality Speaker Sam Mathebula said: “The council has faith and confidence on Mashele following his track record on senior management level.

“His experience will certainly take the municipality to a higher level. We have no doubt that under his leadership, the municipality will continue to deliver the much needed services to our people.”

Mashele told Bosveld: “It was a busy week for me and I’m currently assessing the state of the municipality thereafter I would propose a plan of action and a way forward. Bosveld will conduct an interview with Mashele next Tuesday.
