Golf and music festival set to excite visitors

Residents can enjoy a three-day golf tournament and free entrance to a spectacular music festival from 20 to 23 September at the Kameeldoring Golf Club.

LIMPOPO- One of the organisers, Nadiene Brews said this year the music festival will provide a variety of music and excitement.

“Everyone can look forward to a three-day music festival with well-known artists like Jo Black, Piet Pompies, Dewald Wasserfall, Louwrens the Storyteller and the newest edition to the music industry, Fatman.”

What makes the festival unique is that the entrance is free, but no cooler bags are allowed and the club requests that visitors make use of the cash bar.

The Pro Shop is managed by Dora Take throughout the day.

There will promotions, food stalls and the club’s kitchen will also be open. The Pro shop will exhibit branded golf equipment and interested golfers can make an appointment for a consultation in the Xact Fit simulator.

Brews said the club received a record of 200 entries for this year’s tournament. “We incorporated the music festival with the Kameeldoring Golf Tournament in 2015 and the huge success of then made it an annual event.”

Deon Theron, one of the founders of the Kameeldoring Golf Tournament told Bosveld that the tournament was established in 1983 with Tony Hawken (Snr) and Frik van der Westhuizen.

Theron said: “Since the establishment of the tournament it was one of the favourite tournaments in the country amongst golfers. They came from far and wide to participate in this prestigious tournament.

“The tournament was only nine holes. The players’ handicap was adjusted the same day and players could tee off the next day with his new handicap.”

If you want to rent a golf cart, then Moses Masalesa is the right person to speak to.

Theron says the game has changed a lot over the years. “Previously each player’s score counted separately unlike today where only the best player in a team’s points count.” Kameeldoring Golf Club has one of the most beautiful golf courses in Limpopo that contributed to the success of the tournament for the past 34 years.

Jackina Kolotsi, Hannelie Louw and Johanna Kgosana are part of the friendly kitchen staff who will be serving clients with baskets and fresh food.
