Two, seven-year-old learners killed by speeding vehicle in Malamulele

Police have arrested a 40-year-old man who has been charged with a case of culpable homicide

LIMPOPO – Police spokesperson, Captain Mamphaswa Seabi, says the incident took place on Friday afternoon, 8 September, along the Xithlelani public road.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that during rush hour, a speeding vehicle drove over two boys, both in Gr. 1 at Mahlahle Combined School,” explained Seabi.

They were certified dead by paramedics.

Seabi added that arrangements have been made for social workers to conduct trauma counselling for the learners who had witnessed the accident.

The arrested suspect will appear on Monday, 11 September, in the Malamulele Magistrate’s Court.

“As police, we are continually making an appeal to all motorists and road users to respect traffic rules and ad hear to the stipulated speed limits,”he concluded.
