Two toddlers burnt to death on farm outside Musina

The fire broke out on Tuesday, 29 August, but the cause of it is still unknown.

POLOKWANE – According to Police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, a middle aged woman left her two minor children, aged 20 months and three-years-old, sleeping in a room at Plaas Mount Stuart Schuidrift in the Tshipise area, outside Musina.

The woman then went to another house to cook food.

“While cooking, she heard neighbours screaming and calling her and immediately went out and found the house where she left the two kids,in flames,” Ngoepe explained.

Both toddlers were burnt beyond recognition.

The South African Police Service has condemned the horrific death of the two toddlers and have urged communities to put child safety first.

“This plea is especially for mothers to prevent or to avoid this type of incidents from happening by applying proper child care measures wherever they are,” Ngoepe concluded.
